SCREAMtv confirmed but where does that leave Scream 5?

After speculation for many months, MTV has finally gained the rights to create the movie franchise Scream into a weekly TV show. News like this spread viral over the internet within hours and backlash already started to occur with fans stating "This has got to be the worst news since Volcano's release" and "You have got to be kidding me? What a way to ruin ghostface." Fans are not taking it lightly.

The first official teaser was released last week.

Wes Craven however, the director of the four films, was asked to be part of the new product that will air next year in 2014. He stated on his twitter account, he must see a script first before signing on to the project. News like this also had Craven ask what fans would rather....SCREAMtv or Scream 5. Scream 5 was the much more popular answer. 

However, with it becoming a TV show, will Scream 5 really be possible to happen? A TV show as well as a new trilogy is highly unlikely, but fans are still demanding for the anticipated film we were promised to begin filming in 2011 after the release of the fourth film. 

There is no information stating whether Kevin Williamson, the writer of the four films, will be a part of the program. However, with his very popular and successful series, The Following, heading into a second season, I doubt he will have time in his schedule. 

The main trio of the four films, Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courtney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette) are not known to be involved at the given time. Plenty of rumours however state that all three will appear in cameos only to be killed off early in the series. Some people hate this idea however as it will be the definite end to the franchise in film version.

Episode 50

Episode Movie...the 2011 horror movie sure did cause debates. Almost three out of four americans believe in the paranormal. This movie...orriginally mislead as "real footage"...later to be revealed scripted based on a true event.

Two teams come together to investigate one of the most haunted places in America...orriginally supposed to be Paranormal Investogators 50th episode...however it was never aired. Until now with the tagline...Thus is their final footage...of course all for the movie.

The movie has some reasonable scares throughout but is a little religious...was a good movie but reminded me of Grave Encounters. 
I give it a rating of 6/10. The paranormal movie didnt live up to all its hype. Overall it was good...by far not the best...and no where near the worse.

Paramount finally confirms....

After speculation for years after the sequel coming out in 2005, Paramount has finally confirmed the remake of the Asian sensation Ringu 3 otherwise known as The Ring over in America. The Ring 3, finally being confirmed after 7 years of negation is said to be focused more on teens rather than a mother and her child as the other two films. It will most likely be a sequel rather than a prequel according to Paramount. The Ring was actually one of the first horror movies I watched back in 2002 where the first was released.

Naomi Watts, the star of the previous two films will most likely not be involved with the project because it will now be about teens. It is not known who will play Samara, the evil little girl in the tape as the original actress, Daveigh Chase, is now in her mid 20's so new casting will be needed. 

Speculation on how to come about it though are worrying fans of the franchise. It's obvious that VHS tapes are not used in today's society so it will be interesting to see how they come about it. I'm thinking, maybe someone transformed it into a DVD file. 

Already teasers have been spread on the internet as you can see. I for one will be seeing it. What a great move made by paramount.

In other news, Scream 5 is "up to Bob Weinstein" say Wes Craven, the popular horror director.

"Well no one has called me about it" laughed Craven. "At the moment, I have no idea what the plans are for the franchise-it would be down to [the producer] Bob Weinstein to decide on that."

I'll let you know on any further details on both these productions.

Long-awaited screen shots

The first official screen shots of the anticipated Slasher are finally released. The screen shots feature on and off screen brothers Aiden (Dylan) and Jamie (Corey), as they discuss the murders.

A Horrible Piece of Writing

I know I may get a lot of backlash writing what I'm about too but oh well. Each VCE class set us homework and the Literature homework was to read the world-known best-seller written by Harper Lee. It had sold over 30 million copies and had won numerous awards such as the Pulitzer Prize Winner. It was given comments such as "Someone rare has written this very fine novel".  That's right, I'm talking about the "piece of art" To Kill A Mocking Bird. Originally published in 1960, the book is still a massive book in literature.

However, all the reviews and remarks have been mostly given by adults and I have found that many teens including myself find this book absolutely horrible. I found the piece torture to read. I have found the characters hard to like and also the storyline just annoying. It seems that every different chapter was a different story. Harper should have just written short stories with this kind of style. Also, it takes forever to get into the major storyline....heaps of the minor ones were just unnecessary with irrelevant detail. At the current time I am only one-third through yet I actually had a dream about setting it on fire.

I seriously can not understand how this has been proclaimed one of the best novels ever written. Hopefully the next few chapters change my mind because at the moment, with this kind of ranking, there is no way I can successfully write essays on it for assessments.

Sorry if this offends anyone but I'm entitled to my opinion.

4/5...aint bad?

A follow up from my previous post. 4 actors which include Caitlin Horton, Ryan Meyers, Corey Cohen and myself have so far agreed to come back to the movie and make it happen. At the current time, we are unsure if Thando Bhebe is going to return. The movie may have some characters cut as well as scene cuts but I don't really care...I am just happy that this long awaited movie is back in action.

Who would have thought? But can it be done this time?

To think, the anticipated movie that myself, Ryan, Corey and Thando couldn't wait to make was supposed to be filmed a year ago. Now, Jojo Meys...a very skillful special effects co-ordinator has offered her help to make the movie. She loved the original plot and script of the movie in which we named Slasher.

Now, after a series of texts between myself and the cast, Slasher may be back in production and to be filmed this summer...making it a postpone of a full year.

But after all the previous drama's of filming just a few short scenes at the start of the year, can it be done this time? Don't raise your hopes just yet...but Slasher may not have died and been buried last summer and could very well be in production this summer. I will keep you updated.

Scary Movie 5! Paranormal Activity 5! Wrong Turn 5! Scream 5?!?

5! 5! 5! 5! and 5? It seems that massive franchises are all heading to their fifth instalments. But are they needed...necessary or just dragging out the storyline too much? Are they becoming overused so much that they are becoming cliché's. It depends on the franchise in my opinion. Some franchises like Saw and Chucky (which is currently filming a sixth instalment) make the fifth movie quite well...and it's different to the originals...it's fresh and new. It feels like a new movie just with a similar storyline.

Scary Movie 5, obviously this franchise has no limits on how many it can make...why? Because there is a complete new storyline (spoofs of horrors/thrillers) in every movie. But can this movie coming out seven years after Scary Movie 4 and thirteen years after the original Scary Movie really work without Anna Farris and Regina Hall...central characters of previous films. This is the first film in the franchise that doesn't have the characters Cindy Campbell (Anna) and Brenda Meeks (Regina). Can it work? Now, it stars Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale and Charlie Sheen which did star in the 3rd film. The major spoof of Scary Movie 5 is Paranormal Activity and Black Swan. Will this fifth franchise work without the fan favourites?

Paranormal Activity 4 was just released a few months ago and already the fifth instalment has a release date. Most critics believe that one was enough so why a fifth? It's because they keep raking in all the money. the fifth franchise plot is kept under wraps and it is not known whether past actors/actresses will return to the franchise.

Wrong Turn 5...a bunch of college students getting stalked by a killer....killers I should say...now that is a massive cliché...but what I didn't tell you...that the killers are cannibals. This makes a cliché not a cliché. But with the fifth film...are they just over using it. With only 4 stars out of 10 on imdb....was this the last and final one? Probably not....because everyone keeps believing this one will be better....so they pay to watch it.

Now on a bright note...a movie franchise which I have been begging to continue is currently being buzzed around on twitter by mastermind of horror and director of the other four films, Wes Craven....that's right... i'm  talking about Scream 5. Sidney's story may not be over...and ghostface's killing rage isn't either. With all the trio, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette all showing interest and with Wes Craven posting tweets about Scream 5, is Scream 5 finally going to happen? Millions of fans want this film to happen. Scream is one of those franchises that can't feel clichéd...why? Because unlike other franchises, every new movie doesn't feel like a sequel but a new movie...yes the storyline is continued but it's that rare feeling that doesn't happen often. Scream 5 and even Scream 6 (we were originally promised a new trilogy starting from Scream 4) hopefully does happen...it would be a great thing too see happen. But do fans want to risk it? If Scream 5 were to happen, one of the main trio (Neve, Courtney and David) are certain to die according to Wes. We could be saying goodbye to the fan favourites Sidney, Gale and Dewey in which survived the other four films. 

#5 in the movie industry all coming at once. What's your opinion? Do you think they are overusing them or that they a needed to finish the story line?

Paranormal Activity 4

 The anticipation of yet another Paranormal Activity didn't let down. In my oppinion....the best of the franchise. It had it's usual chills, pop-outs and screamers but we actually learnt about the where-abouts of Katie (All paranormal activities) and Hunter (parts of 2 & 4).


 Paranormal Activity 4 doesn't focus on the family as it did with the other 3 movies, but was led with a complete new cast as "The Neighbours." Yes....this sounds like a major cliche with horrors but it was completley original judging by the franchise it was used in.

The story takes place in 2011, five years after Katie killed her boyfriend Micah, sister Kristi, her husband Daniel and took their baby, Hunter.
This time round, the story focuses on Alex (Kathryn Newton), a blonde teenanger who with a little help from her boyfriend Ben (Matt Shively)...records all night to see any parnaormal events happenening. She notes that all these things started happening when the neighbours moved in. Ben suggests that he can set up laptops around the house to record everything. Over the next couple of days, strange occurrences happen around the house, such as Robbie waking up in the middle of the night and talking to the TV, Robbie and Wyatt running around the house in the early hours of the morning chasing a silhouette of a small child figure. Robbie draws a strange symbol on Wyatt's back, which Alex later finds to be part of an old cult which first appeared in Paranormal Activity 3. Some more of the unexplanable ones are Alex levitating while sleeping and the car driving itself out of the garrage with Alex stuck inside.

The final minutes of Paranormal Activity freak people out but I won't spoil too much but be warned...all the parnaormal events throughout the movie lead up into a massive event at the end of the movie....like the other 3...ending it with a viscious....murder and cliffhanger leading off into a possible fifth installement.



My personal rating out of 10 would be an 8 but if they classify it as a horror the score will drastically change...and not for the better. It's more of a thriller with a few scary moments.

Close friend Thando saw the movie the other day along with myself and Ryan, another close friend and was completely petrified. She couldn't walk into the darkness alone. She was scared big time and feared while even watching. By the near end...she was on the floor watching it through the cracks between the seats. She was horrified.

A great movie and the best of the franchise. Consider watching it...if you dare...BE WARNED!!!!!

News on Scream 5

Scream 5, the popular anticipated movie has been written but according to the writer himself, Kevin Williamson, nobody wants it. Fans have been outraged at the fact. With many comments saying they want it, there has been a gigantic act on it on Social Networks... especially Twitter in which he posted the reply to a fans tweet. Will Scream 5 survive? Hopefully Dimension and Weinstein Films come to terms and make the movie in which every horror fans can't wait for.

It was originally said that Scream 4 (2011) was the start of a new trilogy. Will it end before it even starts?

I hope not. The Scream franchise is my favourite series of all time and deserves the new trilogy in which everyone wants.

The Blair Witch Project

Nothing beats the classic horror movies such as The Blair Witch Project. Originally thought to be real footage, it created a whole new scene for horror movies that have inspired movies such as Quarantine, [REC], and the Paranormal Activity series.

The Blair Witch Project was made in 1999 and was made by hand camera to make the viewers think that this was real footage that they were seeing. 

Three film students travel to Maryland to make a student film about a local urban legend....The Blair Witch. Three three travelled into the woods for a two day hike but never returned. One year later however, the students film and video was found. The footage was put together to make this iconic horror movie known as The Blair Witch Project. 

World wide, the gross came to $248,639,099. The film however only cost an estimated 22, 000 to make.

Breaking News: Samantha Horton quits

Today, on the 9th of June, a slasher meeting was supposed to take place but due to weather, it had to be post-poned. The day however wasn't finished, when Samantha Horton who was casted to play Charlotte, quit slasher because it was too stressing. the actress to be...well was-to- be quoted "Just forget it. I'm done." These words however aren't completely negative, although we lost an actress, we may gain one. Selena Wang who was originally casted to play Amy may now return because Samantha is gone. Selena originally quit because of the arguments between her and Sam but now that she has quit, there may be a possibility of Selena returning to the film Slasher. Whether Caitlin Horton, sister of Sam, and casted to play Andy, will continue to star in the film is unknown.

Is Slasher actually happening?

Yes, I know. Slasher is delayed about 6 months now. We feel your pain...the stress of work, exams and double booking has driven us on a wild journey through what is an actual horror for most of us kids. But don't feel bad because your now in luck. On the 9th of June which just happens to be this Saturday, the cast including, myself, Samantha & Caitlin Horton, Ryan Meyers, Corey Cohen and Thando Bhebe are meeting up for a meeting. During this meeting, we discuss filming dates as well as other important factors. If all this goes to plan, Slasher will start filming in the next few months and will be out to you fans either at the end of the year or early next year.
