The Blair Witch Project was made in 1999 and was made by hand camera to make the viewers think that this was real footage that they were seeing.
Three film students travel to Maryland to make a student film about a local urban legend....The Blair Witch. Three three travelled into the woods for a two day hike but never returned. One year later however, the students film and video was found. The footage was put together to make this iconic horror movie known as The Blair Witch Project.
I've always said you don't have to spend a lot of money to make a film people wil watch and enjoy, just a good script and cast. You'd be surprised how many good movies cost very little, while there have been hugely expensive flops. Waterworld comes to mind. The original Star Trek and Doctor Who had tiny budgets, but terrific scripts and casts. ;-)
